We are going to focus on another musical giant in our new section Beats for Top. It is an American music chameleon – Jauz. Below you will learn what you probably didn’t know about this twenty-five-year-old youngster.

1.  Sam Vogel, better known by his stage name Jauz, grew up in northern California. He began producing electronic music and playing guitar at the age of 15. After graduating from high school, he went to film school, but left the university very early on to study music at the prestigious Icon Collective School in LA.

2.  He kicked off his career under a stage name Escape Dubstep and produced solely future house tracks

3.  Later he shortened his stage name to Jauz even though he hated the word. His classmates from high school used this word as a synonym for a liar. But it was short, easy to remember and catchy.

4.  His career began in the end of 2013 when he released 10 remarkable remixes, 2 collaborations and one solo track. His remixes were fresh and caught the attention of such stars as Diplo, Skrillex or Borgore. One of his great remixes is for a song Duality of the American heavy metal band Slipknot.

5.  Jauz managed to release 23 solo tracks and collaborations for example with already mentioned Skrillex, but also with Tiësto, Marshmello or Netsky.

6.  Nevertheless, Jauz didn’t stop doing remixes (totally he released 26 of them). He remixed hits like Lean On by Major Lazer (together with Dillon Francis), Need U (100%) by Duke Dumong (in cooperation with Marshmello), Closer by The Chainsmokers, Language by Porter Robinson or One Kiss by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa.

7.  Jauz's official genre is very difficult to identify because his tracks, remixes and DJ sets show signs of trap, bass house and dubstep. His style is characteristic of a very distinct bass line.

8.  In November 2017 Jauz founded his own record label Bite This! where he released his debut album The Wise And The Wicked. In the past he released his work under labels such as Buygore (Borgore), Mad Decent (Diplo), Monstercat or Spinnin Records.

9.  By the end of January 2019 Jauz shocked the world by stating that he lost all of his music he was working on in 2018 due to insufficient data backup.
