During the public collections held at the Beats for Love festival its visitors collected almost CZK 11 000 for charitable purposes. The management of the festival decided to increase the amount to a symbolic CZK 33 333 and donate it to the patients of the Ostrava City Hospital.
The hospital is going to use the money for purchasing medical supplies such as pressure gauges. Besides this there are also things on their list which, whist aren’t to help directly with treatments, will help make the patient’s time in the hospital more pleasant, such as new televisions or USB drives for educational programs.
„We are donating money to the Department of Cardiology, because the central theme of our festival is the same as theirs – the heart. We are glad that we can at least help ease the time spent in hospital,“ explains Kamil Rudolf, director of the Beats for Love festival.
There are currently 69 adult patients in the Cardiology Department who are mainly treated with acute coronary syndrome, rhythm disorders and hypertension. „We would like to thank all the donors who not only enjoyed the festival but also thought about others. A big thank you is due also to the organizers. We appreciate that we will be able to use those funds to increase the care of our patients,“ adds Radim Kryza, head of the department.
The Beats for Love festival has a long term focus on charity activities. Last year organizers arranged a collection for a seriously ill girl who could then afford to buy a special communication aid worth almost CZK 100 000. The organizers of the festival also donated blood, cleaned up gardens in retirement homes, organized Christmas gifts for children in a hospital and taught students at the Wichterle High Scool about DJ arts.
